Current Inspiration #20
Welcome to our first 2025 newsletter – Current Inspiration #20 – a fresh canvas of design inspiration! This edition explores transformative design landscapes: natural paint’s eco-revolution, Landline Paris’s curated minimalism, the human health advantage of home electrification, and an update on our Loire Design Lab progress.
Through our work of reimagining spaces, our goal is that each project connects deeply with environment, craftsmanship, and intentional living. And that all begins with the source of our inspiration.
Happy Reading!
Going the natural route
When designing or renovating interior spaces, the choice of paint plays a significant role for us in not only aesthetics, but especially in health. Natural paints have become a popular alternative to traditional synthetic options, offering eco-friendly benefits and a refined finish.
There are a lot of options available out there, but for us, two brands stand out:
Condor Origine (available in France) - Made with natural and renewable materials, their paint offers a palette inspired by the French countryside, creating soothing, timeless interiors. Perfect for those seeking both elegance and environmental consciousness.
Keim Paint (available worldwide) - Renowned for its mineral-based formulations, they offer outstanding durability and color stability. Their natural ingredients also make them highly breathable, which prevents moisture build-up and ensures healthier walls over time. Keim is a top choice for those who value longevity and a sophisticated, matte finish.
Choosing natural paint is not just a design decision—it’s a commitment to sustainability, health, and enduring beauty. There are of course, many more choices beyond the ones we highlighted, but we definitely encourage you to seek out non-acrylic based paint for your next project! Your walls (and your health) will thank you for it!
When in Paris
Landline is a Parisian gem dedicated to bridging timeless design with modern sustainability. With a mission to celebrate craftsmanship and thoughtful living by curating a selection of beautifully designed, responsibly made products, you are sure to find a future-heirloom item during your visit. From artisanal ceramics and natural textiles to sustainable home décor and essentials, every item reflects their commitment to quality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness. Landline isn’t just a store—it’s a space where design meets purpose, inspiring a more intentional way of living. Make sure you drop by next time you're in Paris, and in the meantime, learn more about Landline from our podcast episode with founder, Caroline Morrison.
It’s Electrifying!
Electrifying your home is a crucial step toward reducing your carbon footprint and combating climate change. By switching to electric appliances and renewable energy sources, you can eliminate the emissions produced by fossil fuel-based systems, leading to cleaner air and a healthier environment. Think: induction cooktops and ranges, electric dryers, heat pumps, solar panels, just to name a few. Organizations like Rewiring America are at the forefront of this movement, providing resources and advocating for widespread home electrification in order to drastically reduce our carbon footprint. Their work highlights the environmental and financial benefits of electrification, empowering homeowners to make sustainable choices for a greener future.
Loire Lab Blitz
Things are rapidly progressing over at our Loire Valley project. For those who may have missed it, we are in the midst of a very exciting French renovation, which marks the official expansion of our design practice, now based both in Chicago and the Loire Valley. This space will serve as the future HQ of MAREDI Design Global for France. The particularity of this project is that it will be a “living showroom”: a place where visitors can come to have the full, immersive experience of everything that MAREDI Design has to offer.
Looking for a reason to visit and explore the Loire Valley? This is the best place to start. And if you are looking to extend that stay for a few days, we got you covered, as the space will be available for overnight stays, upon request. Bask in the magical beauty of this region from the banks of the Loire Valley, soaking in the majestic nature of local slate and tuffeau stone. With a special focus on sustainable materials and small living, the experience is sure to be unique and memorable!
