Current Inspiration: FRENCH EDITION
Bastille Day may be a week behind us, but we've been celebrating our affinity of all that is French all month long. Here's a glimpse of a few of our favorite French things this summer!
Spruce up your linen game
The French are known for many things, but the finesse that they demonstrate in and around the kitchen is unparalleled. Everything from the preparation to the presentation is splendid and sophisticated. One of the secrets along the way - linen. Because of its durability, this material is incredibly practical in all aspects concerning la cuisine - be it dish towels, tablecloths, or napkins. More often than not, these are pieces that have been inherited, gifted or even picked up second-hand from a local brocante (flea market). If you'd like to add something similar and rustic to your collection, we suggest Snowe Home for linen towels and napkins!
Drink natural (French) wine
We love wine! But we especially love natural wine! Some of the best comes from the Loire Valley, produced by Catherine and Pierre Breton, of whom we have been extremely fond of for years! Since we tend to favor local creators and producers agriculturally, these vigerons have it all! During our most recent trip to France, we were extremely excited to do a tasting at their winery. Quelle chance to have such an experience - the aromas of the reds, whites and rosés are enough to make one delirious - and then there's the taste! Enough said - check them out! You can find them on the menu of certain wine bars around Chicago or if you're lucky enough, in the aisles of selective, natural wine shops around the city! Santé!
Paint like the French
This is one of our “coup de coeur” resulting from a recent trip to New York. The paint brand, Ressource Peintures, is relatively new to the US market. Forget Benjamin Moore or Farrow & Ball, this is where you will find your next accent wall color or new textured paint inspiration. Plus, the family-run company carefully crafts and manufactures their products in the south of France with a mineral pigment recipe. Coming soon to Chicago interiors near you!
Discover France from the comfort of your home
What better way to discover France and its diverse and picturesque paysage than by watching le Tour de France. In France, this legendary cycling race marks the beginning of summer and is a great way to scout out the location of your next European vacation. Thanks to the time difference, you can effortlessly enjoy a scenic journey through the quaint countryside villages over breakfast, leaving you to dream up (and hopefully book) that trip. You are most welcome for the tip!
